
Youths in Bristol to experience Sex Ed Day
A sex education day is to be implemented through a single day seminar which is still ender development and should be happening on the 4th of the month of July. This is to be done under collaboration between SHARP (Sexual Health Action: Real People), THT (Terrance Higgins Trust) and 4YP Bristol. Youth volunteers originating from Bristol are the majority members of SHARP, these young people have already been given training in matters relating to Sex and Relationships education.
The sex education day is aimed at the young people in Bristol. It also tries to aid in the promotion of positive wholesome relationships and interactions among those of the same age group in addition to safer sex practices. In so doing, the facilitators of this event would have the power to drastically improve the wellbeing and sexual health of young people located in Bristol. The program is also expected to be of benefit to the entire community inclusive of schooling institutions, not merely the young people of Bristol. The fact that this even will be organised by youth volunteers is of vital significance because other youths will find it easier to talk about personal matters with their fellow youth.
The actual day of this programme will consists of varied workshops and sessions that will shine the spotlight on peer pressure and body image. The day will additionally feature presentations about the effect of pornography on youths, relationships and the significance of the use of contraceptive methods. Those that partake in this programme will be offered the opportunity to learn more concerning organisations that have an involvement in counselling and sexual health in addition to the opportunity to talk about sensitive issues concerning the partakers. The provision of a text line has been made where those that send in messages concerning things they deem to be of a personal nature and sensitive may do so anonymously.
With the aid of this programme the young people would be effectively educated on ways in which to handle relationships in a way that will not adversely compromise their happiness and safety.
